Welcome To Hollyhock House

Dear Visitor,

There’s something special in the ground out on the American High Plains. An energy paired with the blue sky and the fresh air that can’t help but reset the soul. The founders of Nebraska State Lunatic Asylum must have realized it when they broke ground prior to its opening in 1896.

While the sky, the ground, and the air are as pure and clean as they were back then, so much has changed on the inside. We don’t call them asylums anymore and we certainly don’t refer to the wonderful patients being treated inside as “lunatics.” Mental health is a spectrum of all types and Hollyhock will never relegate people to labels like “normal” or “abnormal.” Each of those in our care has their own special story, and the professionals charged with their care are committed to helping each of them find their way to joy.

So please, explore what we have to offer. We’ll be here when you need us.
